The magnificent country of Austria is not only a source of world-class musicians and composers, but also of young and inventive fashion designers. On a recent journey to Austria, I noticed the rise in the number of fashion boutiques and more and more locals are wearing the latest clothes by Helmut Lang. Because of this boom in the Austrian fashion industry, an organization "UNIT F" was created in order to back-up the efforts of young Austrian designers and make them be recognized by the international fashion industry.
For the UNIT F, fashion is not only an individual statement or a way of lifestyle, but also a very substantial component of the continuously booming Austrian economy. This organization is also the brains behind a number of wonderful Austrian fashion shows and exhibits, showcasing works not only from designers but also from architects and artists. A recent collaboration with the Vienna University of Applied Arts resulted into a fashion show featuring the outstanding works of designing students under the tutelage of noted designer Helmut Lang. Other notable designers such as Raf Simons and Vivienne Westwood have also taught at the Vienna University of Applied Arts, giving the students an opportunity to be exposed to designer icons that have made notable contributions to the wonderful world of fashion.
